Commander's Message On behalf of the members of flotilla 7-12 Barnegat Light, I would like to welcome you to our website. As part of our 2009 leadership, I am privileged to be a member of this outstanding and highly active flotilla. Charted in March 12, 1971, we have a long and rich history that continues to be written to this day. The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is a diverse, dedicated group of individuals who have voluntarily stepped forward to offer their time, talents and skills in assisting the U.S. Coast Guard with its various missions. They include Search and Rescue, Marine Safety, Maritime Domain Awareness, as well as providing our local Coast Guard units with operational and administrative support. Some members perform specialized services such as watch standing at Coast Guard stations, Commercial Fishing Vessels (safety) checks and other safety and Homeland Security operations. Our main focus is to promote boating safety. This is accomplished through our safe boating courses, offering vessel safety checks, and providing boating literature to the public. Working alongside the U.S. Coast Guard, we are helping to protect our environment and serving our local boating communities as well as our Nation. We make a difference and you can too! Our flotilla meets at Coast Guard Station Barnegat Light, on the third Friday of each month at 1930 HRS (7:30 PM). Please accept my invitation to attend one of our meetings. Take this opportunity to meet our members and see what our flotilla does to make a difference. Whether you enjoy boating or have skills to contribute, please consider becoming part of an outstanding team, the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. It’s where ordinary people do extraordinary things! Hope to see you soon,
Luis J.
